FIVE people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs in the Stroud district in recent weeks.

Seven warrants have been executed at addresses within Dursley and surrounding areas, with five arrests carried out.

Those arrested were four men from Stroud, aged 25, 30, 31 and 38, and a 43-year-old woman from Stroud who was also arrested on suspicion of production of a class B drug.

Stroud inspector Sarah Blake urged anyone with information or concerns over drug activity in their area to contact police.

She said: "In recent weeks there has been quite a lot of police activity in the Stroud district and I'd like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation during this time.

"If anyone has any concerns regarding drug activity in their local area, I'd urge them to please call Crimestoppers anonymously or by contacting police so we can take appropriate action.

"You may think that calling in with information isn't acted on quickly, but please be assured that we need time to build an intelligence picture to obtain a warrant and these things do take time."

Anyone with concerns about drug activity, or any other criminal activity, is asked to call independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or by calling police on 101.

The five people arrested have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
