A revamp of the King Street entrance to Merrywalks shopping centre and nearby shop fronts begins this week.
Dransfield Properties is beginning the second phase of its Merrywalks redevelopment, the first being an overhaul of the car park set to finish this month.
Aside from overhauling the entrance, the Sheffield-based company - which bought the shopping centre earlier this year - is creating new flats above the shops and installing a new roof.
“It’s great to be starting work on this next phase of our project to transform the Merrywalks shopping centre in the heart of Stroud,” said Mark Dransfield, managing director at Dransfield Properties.
“Stroud is a beautiful market town and we are delighted to be working with excellent local partners as well as local contractors on this project.”
The shopping centre will stay open throughout the work, which is being carried out by Gloucester-based Barnwood General Works Ltd.
