FORMERLY homeless people were given Forest Green match tickets after they were donated to Emmaus by the world’s first vegan football club.

The Nailsworth club, which was founded on the principles of community togetherness and social responsibility, donated tickets for the match against Tranmere Rovers.

Ben Hunt, a support worker at Emmaus Gloucestershire, attended the match with six of the Emmaus companions – who are being given the opportunity to rebuild their lives in a stable living environment.

“The companions and I had a great night at the Forest Green Rovers match, they really looked after us and I would like to thank their community team for making the night so enjoyable,” said Ben.

“We were thrilled to be able to attend, and the night was topped off with FGR winning the match 3-1.”

For people who were homeless, Emmaus Gloucestershire offers a supportive and stable living environment for as long as they need.

The aim is for those living with Emmaus to develop new skills whilst they work hard to rebuild their self-esteem, confidence and dignity.

Because of this, those living at an Emmaus environment are often able to move-on and live independently.

The ticket donation meant that the communities Emmaus store could treat football fans in recognition of their hard work.
