A YOUNG boy has seen off tough competition and land himself a part in Sainsbury's Christmas advert.

Cody Davies, who lives in St Julians, is an aspiring actor and singer.

Mum Sarah Biggs said: “We were told of a casting advert on social media. It did not have much information attached to it. It just said a company was looking to do a Christmas advert."

The 37-year-old said that her 11-year-old son decided to apply for the commercial.

“The audition took place in Cardiff," she said.

“We were then told he had got through to the next stage and that would be taking place in London.

“When we got to London the audition was exactly the same as the one before - he had to sing and dance.

“Later we had a call to say he had to learn a song and perform it. He was quite upset because he felt he had not done very well. He had been through three auditions."

The family then discovered that Cody had got one step closer to achieving his dream.

She said: “We were over the moon that he would be in it. We were then told the commercial is for Sainsbury’s which is absolutely fantastic.

“He has always wanted to become an actor and getting a part in this commercial will help a lot.

“It was lovely to see my son so excited when he found out he had been successful. It is a great advert too.”

The commercial - which centres around a Christmas performance - sees Cody as a Christmas card.
