Stroud will be awash with Christmas cheer on Friday night.

Organisers of this year’s annual Goodwill Evening say they have had an amazing response from shopkeepers, with more than ever staying open late plus special offers, competitions and of course the treasure hunt.

The night runs from 5pm to 9pm, with the lantern procession starting at the Sub Rooms forecourt at 6pm with Father Christmas.

This year’s theme is insects, so expect to see hundreds of bugs and beasties.

Look out for updates on the Stroud Goodwill Evening Facebook page.

Goodwill treasure hunt

There's a new format this year.

There are 32 shops in the treasure hunt stretching from Nelson Street to Gloucester Street and London Road.

Participants must make a list of all the shops they can find which have the Goodwill Bee in the window.

The entrant with the most correct shops/businesses listed will win the prize - a family ticket worth £50.50 for this year’s panto at the Sub Rooms.

Entrants should post their list on the Stroud Goodwill Evening Facebook page or deliver a handwritten list to the Stroud Town Council office (or post through the letter box).

This year’s panto, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, runs from Friday, December 21 to Monday, December 24.

Cast includes Britain’s Got Talent finalist Drew Cameron as Muddles who joins a Wicked Queen, a handsome Prince and the beautiful Snow White.
