STROUD was awash with Christmas cheer last night.

The town's Goodwill Evening began with a lantern procession starting at the Sub Rooms forecourt with Father Christmas.

Hundreds took part, with many holding homemade bugs and beasties in line with this year's theme of insects.

Jazz Friday and the Rock Choir performed and children enjoyed a fairground while parents browsed dozens of stalls.

A Christmas market in the Cornhill was packed with delights and there was plenty of mulled wine and cider to keep the cold at bay.
