EASTENDERS star Danny Dyer popped into Berkeley Castle whilst filming his new history series.

The actor is hosting a two-part programme about his royal lineage, which premiers next week.

The show follows Dyer's discovery, in a 2016 episode of Who Do You Think You Are?, that he is related to Thomas Cromwell, Edward III, William the Conquerer and Henry III.

He is now presenting a two-part BBC history series entitled Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family, which airs on BBC1 on Wednesday, January 23.

As part of the show, which was filmed during the summer, Dyer met up with Berkeley Castle archivist Karen Davidson, to find out more about Edward II.

Jackie Pennington, operations manager at Berkeley Castle, and staff member Gail Stacey chatted with the star and had their photographs taken with him.

"He was absolutely delightful," said Jackie.

"It was in the summer, just as Love Island had finished, and so we had a chat about his daughter Dani, who won the show.

"He was a really nice chap."
