SIDDINGTON Parish Council has another local council in the Cotswolds to increase the precept of council tax to help provide funding for a camera that will monitor vehicle activity through the village.

At the January meeting of the Parish Council, it was decided to increase the precept by 1.86 percent (an increase of 88p for a Band D dwelling) to accommodate the replenishment of the playing field reserve and to provide funding for an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera.

These cameras are able to identify vehicles of interest to the police and can also be used to monitor speeds through the village.

Though not ‘portable’ it would be possible to move the camera to different areas of the parish to monitor through traffic.

It was announced that South Cerney would also be increasing the precept and will use some of the funds raised to buy two ANPR cameras.
