THE Annual General Meeting for the Cirencester Mothers’ Union began with a short act of worship celebrating Candlemass.

The minutes of last year’s AGM were agreed and signed.

Various reports presented detailing fundraising and activities undertaken throughout the year including making weekly lunches supporting the Churn Project’s Families Matter; knitting blankets for stillborn and premature babies at Gloucester and Stroud; donating toiletries and knitted purses to the Family Haven; financial support for Away From It All (AFIA) holidays and funds for school trips for needy families.

Pauline Farman then entertained members with some of her own poems, before tea and biscuits and a chance to socialise.

The next MU coffee morning is at 10am - 12noon on Friday, February 15 in the Parish Church.

All funds raised support MU projects. The next MU meeting is at 2.30pm Wednesday, March 6 at Holy Trinity Hall, Watermoor Road, when the Revd David Minns will speak about the MU in Nigeria. Everyone welcome, whether or not a member.
