Car owners are being warned to 'remain vigilant' after a number of vehicles were broken into over night.

Police say that thieves targeted two cars in the Beards Lane and Stratford Road areas of Stroud last night, February 10.

In light of the crimes a statement has been released reminding people not to leave valuables in the car - such as ID cards, items of post, IPADs, Smart Phones, loose change and Sat Navs.

Additionally drivers are being asked to ensure vehicles are locked and parked in a secure and safe place.

Individuals who park works' vehiclesin the town are also asked to check that items of value and importance are security coded and removed from vehicles overnight.

"Those extra few minutes of care could help prevent impact on business," the police statement reads.

"Please remain vigilant."
