Stroud Film Festival has set you a challenge: make a 60 second film in a weekend.

On Saturday, March 16, filmmakers of all levels of experience are being invited to make a live action, animation, comedy, drama, documentary or even experimental film - so long as it lasts a minute.

"We’re looking for creative and inventive films," said Brimscombe-based filmmaker Sara Tibbetts.

"Most people have the technology to make a film on their phone or tablet: it’s just a question of getting on top of the tech and then you can put your ideas on the screen."

Filmmakers will be sent the theme on the first morning to stop people cheating by making their film in advance and will have until Sunday to wrap up production.

Selected films will be shown on the big screen as part of ‘This is Stroud’ at Lansdown Hall on Friday, March 22 and then on the festival website.

If you want tips ahead of time, there will be a workshop on Saturday, March 9 called ‘Film School’ - a one day course for people who want to learn shooting and editing skills.

Stroud Film Festival runs March 9 to March 24, showing a wide range of films from features and film events to short films made in the Five Valleys and beyond.

The festival is generously supported by Stroud Town Council and the British Film Institute.
