SLIMBRIDGE Wetland Centre is to be featured on BBCTV's Countryfile this weekend.

Sunday's entire show is set at the Slimbridge site and includes three different stories, with Matt Baker and Helen Skelton presenting.

Matt joined Dave Paynter, the reserve manager, to take part in a duck decoy demonstration, which is a historic practice where ducks follow a specially trained dog.

Historically birds were caught this way for the dinner table, but the method is now used for conservation purposes so the different species can be studied.

Matt also chatted with Jackie Harris, project manager of Slimbridge 2020.

The pair went behind the scenes of Sir Peter Scott’s house, which is to be turned into a museum, designed to bring the story of the WWT and its founder to life.

And presenter Helen Skelton met up with Gloucestershire artist, Celia Smith.

Celia has been a member of Slimbridge for many years and draws inspiration from the birds and wildlife here for her wire sculptures.

To watch the show, tune in to BBC1on Sunday at 6pm.
