The following is from this week's Farmer's Market column.

Eh up we’ve nearly made it to the end of February, always quite a physical/emotional battle with the elements and the month when the yearning for warmer months is felt most keenly.

Of course, a jaunt around the farmers’ market on a Saturday is sure to warm us up; not least when we are lugging our laden baskets of produce up the hills to our front doors.

We have Nifty Nut Butter, a proper quirky Stroudy business, back at the market this week with their ever increasing range of incredible nut butters.

Top of the popularity stakes is the hand made stone milled pistachio butter. Soaked overnight then lightly roasted this nut butter, just pistachios and a touch of sea salt, is silky smooth with an intense pistachio taste.

Two recent additions to the range are Cheesy Cashew butter, roasted and stone milled with nutritional yeast, cider vinegar, olive oil, garlic and lemon, for a cheesy hit without the cheese – great for a tangy taste without the dairy, and the newest addition; Cookies and Cream Almond butter.

The base is a rich white almond butter sweetened with organic coconut sugar. The cookie crunch is made from a biscuit of ground almonds, coconut, coconut sugar and coca powder.

Check out the full range this Saturday!

Elsewhere Simon Weaver are due in with their organic Brie and there are some nice ceramics from Penny Campbell, Claire Powell and Dorcas De Marco plus College Green soaps and Ye Green Men.
