I began my week in the sunshine, planting potatoes with children at Oakridge Parochial School and answering their thoughtful questions.

It was a great way to feel grounded before heading to Westminster and a reminder of the importance of getting out and about.

With that in mind, my spring programme of constituency events is filling up.

While the debacle of the Brexit negotiations grabs headlines, behind the scenes there is a mountain of legislation to be worked through and I have spent much of my time this month in Westminster committee rooms, immersed in the painstaking detail of scrutinising the Government’s agriculture legislation.

So it seems more important than ever to make time to spend with people in Stroud. One of the lessons we can learn from Brexit is that politics should be more about listening and less about ‘shouting’.

With the support of venues across the constituency, we’ve put together a programme of relaxed events where people can talk to me about the subjects that interest them or discuss developments in Westminster.

Join me to start the week with coffee and cake at The Lavender Bakehouse, Chalford, on Monday 4 March at 9.30am. I’ll also be at The Prince Albert in Rodborough on Thursday 7 March from 6.30pm. I’m joining Fran Boait, Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Gloucester, for Pizza and Politics at the GL3 Community Hub in Churchdown on Thursday 4 April from 7pm. I’m back in Dursley on Sunday 7 April at The Old Spot Inn for another pub politics session from 5.30pm.

Details are on daviddremp.org.uk. Do let me know if you’d like me to try to get to your local café, pub or community group. I’m looking forward to seeing you out and about this spring!
