Preperations are underway for the biggest fundraiser in Lea and Garsdon Primary School's calender.

This summer, for the third year in a row, the school will be hosting its annual Pig Chase and Summer Fair.

The school based in Lea, near Malmesbury, have set themselves with an ambitious target of raising £12,000 from the event.

With plans to extend the school, creating a bigger school hall and an additional three classrooms, money is needed to purchase three interactive whiteboards to give children a better learning experience.

The school has just finished replacing five of the old interactive whiteboards at the school that were 'falling apart'.

Each year, local groups decorate a pig based on a theme as part of a pig chase, much like a scarecrow trail.

This year's theme is Piggywood, so the school is looking for the best movie inspired pigs, with prizes for the best three.

Kellie Chandler, part of the PTA team, said: "This a fantastic event for the whole school and village as everyone gets involved.

"Last year we raised £4,000 from this event including our fantastic raffle which went a huge way towards the purchase of our much needed interactive white boards.

"These have all been installed this year which is great news."

The school is also looking for businesses to sponsor the Pig Chase with three different packages, from sponsoring a pig to becoming the star sponsors of the event.

"Last year we approached local companies to help us sponsor a part of the day as your sponsorship really helps us to cover some of the set up and running costs of the pigs but also of the stalls, food, bar and activities at the school," Kellie added.

"We have already had some companies agree to sponsor us again.

"We are also always looking for raffle prizes as this is a key part of our fundraising."

Anyone looking to sponsor the event can email the school at PTA@leagarsdon.wilts.sch.uk.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 29, at the Jubilee Playing Fields, Lea.
