THE A419 has reopened this morning after it was closed for several hours while firefighters battled a blaze at a car body workshop.

At least six fire engines, as well as ambulances, police and crews from utility companies worked at the scene of the fire in Thrupp near Stroud.

While the teams worked on the blaze the road was closed.

Firefighters from Stroud, Cirencester, Tetbury and Nailsworth were called at 7.30pm yesterday, March 18.

Dozens of emergency workers battled the blaze for over five hours before the fire was contained at just after midnight.

The road remained closed into the early hours while firefighters ensured that the fire was completely extinguished, and assessed the damage to the buildings.
