A 46 year old Stroud man who denies armed burglary and assault with intent to cause serious harm will stand jury trial on July 1, a Gloucester judge ruled yesterday.

Harley Yearwood, of Church Road, Cainscross, Stroud entered not guilty pleas to the two allegations when he appeared at Gloucester crown court.

Mr Yearwood is accused of stealing two jiffy bags during a burglary on February 18 this year in Kings Road, Stroud when he was allegedly armed with an imitation firearm, a cosh and a machete.

He also denies assaulting Daniel Banks with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

Recorder Christopher Quinlan QC fixed the trial for July 1, and remanded Mr Yearwood in custody until that date.

Two boys from Stroud who were arrested in connection with the incident, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, were both bailed to return to a police station in March.
