A resident from Yate has expressed his concern at graffiti that he describes as an 'epidemic'.

Graffiti has been sprayed on numerous signs, electrical boxes and bus stops around the area.

Alan Monaghan spoke to the Gazette about the problem he believes is affecting most of Yate and Sodbury.

Whilst recovering from an operation, Alan started to go on walks to maintain his fitness and aid his recovery.

"I started to notice the graffiti in the area more recently as I have started walking around the town more," he said.

"It was probably around the end of January and then ever since I haven't been able to not see it."

Alan revealed that he had been in contact with the police force in the area and also used his position as Chair of Yate Town Council's environment and community committee to contact South Gloucestershire Council and report the incidents to them.

Do you think that the graffiti in the area is becoming a problem?

"I have been in touch with the police and South Gloucestershire Council and they have told me they are trying to help but they are too busy unfortunately."
