POLICE have reassured members of the public after a large number of police cars were seen rushing to the scene of an incident in the town centre this morning.

Four police units were seen arriving at the scene at Wallbridge near the canal, with a number of officers undertaking a search of nearby buildings around the scene.

"It was quite a dramatic sight seeing all of the police cars arrive with their blue lights going," one witness told the paper.

Officers were seen searching the area around the Upper Lock Cafe and the Cotswold Canal Trust visitor centre at around 10am.

Blue-gloved police personnel appeared to be checking behind buildings in the area another by-stander said.

A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokesperson said that officers had been responding to reports of a missing teenager.

"Officers were responding to a report of a missing teenager," the spokesperson said.

"We are pleased to say that the young person has now been located safe and well."
