READERS may notice some minor changes to the Stroud News and Journal today.

We have moved to a simpler, more modern headline typeface, which we think you will find easier to read.

And blue is now being used for highlighting on inside pages in place of red. Again, we think this is easier on the eye, and the cooler colour will give more prominence to pictures.

There also changes to the editorial staff. Editor John Wilson, who currently edits the SNJ as well as the Gloucestershire Gazette, the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard, the Hereford Times and the Ludlow Advertiser, will now concentrate on Hereford and Ludlow.

Meanwhile, Michael Purton, a former editor of the Gloucestershire titles, will be taking over John’s duties. Michael, who still lives in the area and knows it very well, will also continue in his current role as editor of the Worcester News, Malvern Gazette and Evesham Journal.

Sarah Phaedre Watson is leaving to take up a new challenge after a successful period as audience and content editor for the Stroud News and Journal, Gloucestershire Gazette and Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard. A replacement is being recruited.

All three news titles – which are published by Newsquest Media Group – are growing their combined print and digital audience as the newspaper industry adapts to the digital revolution.
