DONNA Crowther from Tetbury who, with a walking team, completed an epic 100-mile sponsored walk for Christian Aid, in January, gave a breakfast talk at the end of last month in her home town about the trek.
Donna and members of the walking team joined supporters at Christchurch Hall in Tetbury on Saturday, March 30, where she was interviewed by Revd Peter Hyson, Kevin Painter writes.
Donna came up with the idea to raise £100,000 for Syrian refugees as a unique way to celebrate her 50th birthday, and the team visited different churches in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire on the route.
Keen bell-ringer Donna was able to ring the bells in some of the churches.
The walk was match funded 6:1 so the target of £14,286 would turn into £100,000.
Amazingly at the end of the incredible journey the team were just £195.30 short of their final target.
At the breakfast, Donna thanked her team, the generosity of everyone who donated and the hospitality of all the churches they visited.
And she didn’t leave empty handed, receiving enough donations to reach the £100,000 final target.
