Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool is set to re-open for the summer.

Now reaching its 149th year, the swimming pool will open its doors on Thursday.

The 28 metre pool is heated to 27 degrees and offers swimmers of all ages a chance to swim.

Ran by a committee of enthusiastic volunteers, the facility also includes a tuck shop serving a number of hot and cold refreshments, a sunbathing patio area and a smaller paddling pool for children.

This year, for those who want to try something different, there will be Night Swims on Saturday, June and Friday, July 26, a Summer Solstice Swim on Friday, June 21 and a Sunrise Swim on Thursday, August 8.

The 24 hour charity swim will take place on the weekend of September 7 and 8 to raise money for the pool and Splash Day, a big themed party with barbecue and fun activities taking place throughout the day, will take place on Sunday, July 7.

There will be a weekly youth evening every Friday up to July 19 from 7pm to 8:30pm for children aged 10 to 17 to enjoy a swim with their friends - admission is £1 only.

Carer and toddler sessions will also be available from 10am to 11am on weekdays during term time, including a free tea or coffee.
