HUNDREDS of people headed to the Sub Rooms for Stroud’s first Steampunk weekend.

Costumed fans of the Victorian science fiction phenomenon enjoyed a market, a gin bar, tea duelling, author talks, plus music from Professor Elemental, Captain of the Lost Waves, Victor Sierra, Alice’s Night Circus, Lady Violet Hugh and Way Out West.

Describing Steampunk, event organiser John Bassett said: "The simplest answer is that Steampunk is a style of literature, music, dress, or performance that is inspired by a combination of Victorian and futuristic ideals, but most of all it is fun.

"Someone said at the weekend that because of the diversity of the music acts, it is a flavour rather than just one particular style."

“We had a great weekend," he added.

“Brilliant performers, traders, author talks and other events and a lovely audience.

“One of the great things is that people have travelled from far and wide for the event.”
