AN 80-mile bike ride through the Gloucestershire countryside will take place next month.

The 5 Valleys Sportive, hosted by Brimscombe Primary School, is returning for a second year on June 22.

Riders will pass through Frampton Mansell, Cowley, Frocester Hill, Ozleworth. Hawksebury Upton and Rodmarton on their way round.

As well as the 80-mile route there is a 40-mile course and a 15-mile family ride along canal paths.

Brimscombe headteacher Joe Roberts said: “The event was such a success last year that it was completely sold out several weeks before the day.

“This year we have increased the number of entrants per route and will be staggering the two longer distances to enable more people to participate.

"“As a fan of pedal power it was such a lovely sight to see so many people coming together and enjoying being out in the beautiful countryside.”

Organised by parents at the school, with the support of British Cycling, the route will be on public roads with marshals, water and food stations throughout.

There will also be refreshments and live music at the school, following the ride, as it will also be hosting its annual Summer Bash.

Entry is £30 for 80 mile route, £20 for 40-Mile ride and just £1 for the family event, all finishers will be given a medal.

All proceeds will go to the school. To find out more about signing up, visit
