A prisoner that absconded from Leyhill Prison on Friday has been arrested. 

Ronan Korby, also known as Lee Watersworth, had last been seen at 10am on Friday in West Street, Bristol.

He was in Bristol on a work placement but failed to return to the prison where he is serving a sentence for sexual offences.

CCTV footage had shown him at ASDA in Rhyl at about 7.30pm on Sunday, June 2.

However, North Wales Police have confirmed he was caught and arrested in Bangor on Monday evening thanks to information from the North Wales public.

A Prison Service spokesperson said: “Absconds from open prison are extremely rare.

"Those who abscond can serve extra time behind bars in a closed prison.”

Korby is the second prisoner to abscond from Leyhill in the space of three weeks.
