I see the headline in the article about the European election result gives credit to the Brexit Party apparently winning in Stroud.
This is not so. The total number of voted for Remain parties was 22,483, whereas votes for Brexit, and I include here Labour and the Tories, only total 20,294, over 2,000 less than the declared Remainers.
This sort of reporting, which seems to be widespread across the media, is misleading to say the least.
Stroud is a Remain constituency and this was clearly reflected in the votes cast.
