House to house collections for Tetbury Hospital will take place this week.

The annual Friends of Tetbury Hospital fundraiser will take place from tomorrow (Monday, June 10) to Friday, June 14.

Last year the collection raised an incredible £10,967.30 and enabled the hospital to purchase an ultrasound machine.

Dr Henry Murdoch, consultant anaesthetist, said: “Our new ultrasound machine is a fantastic acquisition for Tetbury Hospital. "It will allow us to provide state of the art scanning, delivering nerve blocks with enhanced accuracy and safety for our patients undergoing surgery, and can also be also used during outpatient clinics.”

This year the friends and their loyal team of collectors are aiming to raise £11,000 to buy a flexible cystoscopy system to use in the new procedure room.

By investing in this equipment, it will mean patients can have their urology diagnostic procedure at the hospital, rather than having to travel further afield.

The procedure enables the consultant to look at the bladder through a viewer and then, if required, take a biopsy.

Both men and women can have a cystoscopy.
