WORK has begun on transforming a Nailsworth field into an accessible community park for all ages.

As part of a £75,000 refurbishment project, new play equipment and accessible footpaths will be added to the Miles Marling Field site, which is located off Nortonwood, Forest Green.

A spokesman for Nailsworth Town Council said: "Works are underway to improve a pretty, blank field and make it into a more accessible community park for all ages.

"It’s a lovely open site off Nortonwood, Forest Green.

"We’ve had plans to improve it for years and are finally putting things in place.

"We’re installing footpaths, a new entrance, seating, a zip wire and swings to appeal to dog walkers, adults, older people and families.

"There’s a bit of a focus on accessibility with some small features planned to help people with disabilities to enjoy the lovely views and green space.

"Our accessibility specialist Cllr Mike Kelly is advising on this."

The works are expected to be completed this summer.
