Plans for a new purposed built pre-school in Chedworth have been announced.

The current Chedworth pre-school located within the Village Hall is looking to create a new facility to provide greater room and facilities for children between the ages of two and four within an Early Learning environment.

It is hoped that providing the necessary agreement of the Chedworth Parish Council and local planning plus the necessity to raise important funds and grants the new pre-school could be built within 2020.

Up to 24 children would be accommodated by the new build.

The pre-school hope the move would make it a major attraction for the village and the surrounding area, further enhancing Chedworth and attracting more young families.

As a supporter of pre-school teaching and education within the area, Lord Vestey has agreed to act as Patron and supporter of the new development.

Commenting on the new project, manager Sarah Smith said: “With the existing pre-school attracting children from not only Chedworth but as far a field as Northleach, Cirencester, Woodmancote, North Cerney and Bourton-on-the Water the excellent care currently provided will be enhanced by new dedicated teaching and play areas, and improved facilities for staff which can only make Chedworth even more attractive for families in the future.

“Lord Vestey’s kind support is greatly appreciated and we hope that his patronage will attract others to also support the new venture”

The pre-school was originally established in 1976 as the Chedworth Play Group within the village hall and continues to thrives 40 years on as an integral part of the community.

A planning application has not yet been submitted to Cotswold District Council.

Cotswold District Council Cllr for Chedworth Jenny Forde is excited about the plans.

She said: “I’m a huge supporter of this project.

“Investment in rural childcare is an investment in the future of our rural communities.”
