TRAILBLAZING Forest Green Rovers are set to name the first female academy boss in English football.

Backed by environmentalist Dale Vince the ambitious League Two outfit already boast the youngest CE0 in the Football League in Henry Staelens, 30, and previously had one of the first women CEOs in football - Helen Taylor.

And Vince insists the new female academy head, who replaces Scott Bartlett, landed the job on merit.

He told Sun Sport: "She got the job on merit. She has enthusiasm, is the best qualified and has great attitude. She was the standout candidate.

"We've not done this as a gimmick. It was a coincidence that she happens to be a woman."

Vince believes the appointment will help shake up the male dominated football world and will help get more female coaches into the game.

"This appointment will raise an important issue. Why is there not enough inclusion in football?"
