Residents that spoke to the Gazette last week regarding a planning application for 89 dwellings in Yate have spoken with the potential developer.
Dozens of residents attended an Iron Acton Parish Council meeting on Monday night to voice their concerns over the application next to North Road.
Developer Newland Homes hopes to demolish an early 20th century building, before building a road that will lead in to a new development of 89 dwellings.
Concerns were raised regarding an increase in traffic on the road, lack of amenities in the area and also problems with flooding and the already problematic sewage system.
Representatives of Newland Homes have said that any construction they do carry out on the site will be done 'respectfully' and confirmed that they do not currently own the site.
At the meeting a representative said: "We have an agreement to buy the land if planning permission is approved.
"We see it as an opportunity to develop a site away from the green belt.
"We knew that residents would be against this but it is our job to reassure them."
