Thornbury and Yate MP Luke Hall has stated he believes the Extinction Rebellion protests in Bristol have 'gone too far'.

In a letter to Chief Constable of Avon and Somerset Police Andy Marsh, the MP said that the blocking of the M32 was causing chaos.

In the letter, which was also posted on his Facebook page, he said: "The protests have rightly up and until now struck a balance between allowing peaceful protest in the city centre to make their point in an organised way.

"However the blocking of the M32 is a step too far, causing extreme difficulties for everyday families who are trying to get to work, make a living, and be able to return to their families to see them for the night – not to mention the chaos this is causing for those visiting the city for medical treatments.

"I have written to the Chief Constable asking that whilst protests should be by all means be allowed at the junction (at the side, or by the crossings) – access to traffic and buses should be protected and enforced by the Police."
