Conditions applied by South Gloucestershire Council to the planning consent for The Wave surfing lake, confirmed the opening hours of 8am until 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am until 5pm Sundays and public holidays.

In view of the quiet countryside environment there was to be no outside music or tannoy, for reasons of neighbourhood amenity.

The Wave have sort to circumvent this by applying for a premises licence, including a bar under the Licensing Act.

This would allow them to have plays, live music, dance, films and recorded music indoors and outdoors every day of the year from 7am until 11.00pm.

New Years day would be until 2am.

As part of the planning application process, a noise assessment was undertaken, but no assessment of music or other similar activities was done.

Supply of alcohol within the Wave boundaries would be allowed until 11.30pm.

In addition 25 tents have been allowed, and they will be able to make music and drink alcohol over a complete 24 hour period.

I would suggest therefore, these changes as so radical from the basic surfing proposal, that they would never have been passed had they been put forward originally.

If you agree and wish to object you should write to the council, Dept for Environment and Community Services, Licensing service, PO Box 1954, Bristol BS37 0DD by the 23 July, 2019.
