Malmesbury Carnival kicked off in style as its new launched event proved a roaring success.

The carnival was launched with the new Blast off event in glorious sunshine on Saturday, July 20 at Malmesbury Victoria football Club's Flying Monk Ground.

Blast Off attracted more than 700 visitors who all enjoyed a wide range of activities that were on offer.

Music was provided by Steelbanddrums, Malmesbury Concert Band and DJ Lightening.

Visitors also enjoyed a children's fun run, beat the goalie, climbing wall, fair ground ride, face painting, horseshoe toss, a walking football demonstration and a barbecue.

The event would not have been possible without the generosity of its kinds sponsors, Hilditch and Haine and Smith.

Malmesbury Carnival's next event is on Thursday, August 1 with the High Street Treasure Hunt and Stencil Shed Treasure Hunt which will run throughout August.

Highlights of the carnival are the Petticoat Lane event on August 25 and the Procession on August 31.
