The closing date for the consultation to select the design for the new Waterloo cap park has been extended.

Cotswold District Council is giving residents more time to choose their favourite design for the new car park planned for Cirencester.

With more than 1000 votes being cast already the council has extended the closing date of its consultation to Friday, August 2.

Residents can continue to cast their vote online or they can call into the council offices at Trinity Road to see the same design artwork and display boards which were on public view at The Fleece in the town centre until last Friday.

Three different designs are being considered for the exterior of the new Waterloo car park, one uses wooden weave, another uses aluminium on stone and a third hare and mosaic.

Those visiting the display in Trinity Road will be able to cast their vote in person using a ballot box.

Councillor Mark Harris said: “We are very pleased with the response both to the exhibition in the Fleece and online. It is clear there is a lot of public interest in this project so we decided to extend the opportunity for people to give their views on the designs.

"The feedback will be taken into account when the decision is made on the final two designs from which the winner will be chosen.”
