Cirencester College students are celebrating another fantastic year of results.

Top achieving A-level student from Cirencester, Oliver Pennington, has gained an incredible four A* Cirencester Sixth Form College.

Oliver today collected maximum grades in his A-level exams with four A* in Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and Physics.

Eighteen-year-old Oliver, formerly of Cirencester Deer Park, is now off to Manchester University, where he will study a degree in Chemical Engineering.

Joseph Butterfield today collected maximum grades in his A-level exams with a fantastic four A* in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Economics.

Eighteen-year-old Joseph, formerly of Rednock School, is now off to Bristol University, where he will study a degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

Oliver and Joseph are two of many Cirencester College students and staff who will be celebrating another successful year of outstanding A-level and vocational results.

According to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), 88 percent of Cirencester College graduates achieve a first class, or upper second-class honours degree at university.

This year, among the many success stories are the vets, medics and dentistry students with confirmed places at the most prestigious UK universities, including Imperial, Bristol, Southampton, Cardiff, St Andrews and Plymouth.

Other students will take up places at top Russell Group universities, including Oxford.

Principal Jim Grant commented: “We have seen another year of strong science results with increases in the highest grades, particularly in Physics and Further Maths.

"There were also huge leaps in English Literature, Economics and Drama grades.

“With funding pressures, language subjects are under threat almost everywhere, so it was great to see our linguists having one of their best ever years.

"German results in particular were outstanding."
