A MOTORIST who was three times the drink drive limit when he was stopped by police has been banned from driving for four years.

Peter Benn, 38, of Windyridge, Stroud, admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared before Cheltenham magistrates on August 8.

He was stopped in his car in Morrisons car park in Nailsworth on July 23 this year.

Benn was found to have 106 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

He was given a community order and told to have treatment for alcohol dependency.

Benn was also banned from driving for 48 months, which could be reduced by a year on completion of a court approved course.

Plus he was fined £453, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £90.
