Scenes of Christmas past, present and future can be seen in September as Cirencester’s Barn Theatre launches auditions for its production of A Christmas Carol.

The award-winning theatre is hosting auditions for a variety of characters on September 5 at The Barn. A group of ensemble performers will each take on multiple roles to tell this classic story in a new production with script by Alan Pollock and music by Finn Anderson.

Performers will need to be adept at switching between different characters and be physically agile.

All ensemble performers will sing - some will play an instrument.

The theatre are keen to meet adults of all ages who meet these criteria. They are also looking for a male aged 40-70 for the role of Scrooge.

This role requires an actor with exceptional acting ability.

The Barn is known in the theatre industry for giving emerging new talent an opportunity and will be looking to cast Tiny Tim from their successful Barn Academy, recently taken over by acclaimed youth director - Jean-Marc Cafà.

A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge.

It is a favourite of Barn theatre producer Jamie Dixon.

“It is a classic and known by all. We are offering the local community the opportunity to get involved and we hope to find a real star,” he said.

Information on what to prepare shall be given when time slot offered.
