A 12-year-old girl was left with serious head injuries after being hit by a car in Cirencester yesterday.

The incident took place at around 12.10pm on Sunday on Cripps Road next to Brewery car park.

She was hit by a black Vauxhall Corsa.

Gloucestershire Constabulary issued an appeal for information, saying: "We're appealing for witnesses to a collision in Cirencester yesterday (Sunday) in which a girl suffered serious injuries.

"The collision happened on Cripps Road, near to the Brewery car park, at around 12.10pm and involved a black Vauxhall Corsa and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a 12-year-old girl, was taken to Bristol Children's Hospital with serious head injuries.

"The driver of the vehicle was physically uninjured in the collision.

"Officers are investigating the circumstances of the incident and would like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

"Anyone with information, or relevant dashcam footage, is asked to call police on 101 and quote incident 180 of 25 August.

"The road was closed while an investigation took place and reopened later that day."
