There was a police incident in Merrywalks car park earlier this morning.
The street leading to the ground floor exit - Rowcroft Retreat - was cordoned off, but has since re-opened.
One fire engine and a handful of police vehicles were on the scene.
A Gloucestershire police spokesman said: "Police were called to Merrywalks Shopping Centre in Stroud shortly before 6.20am this morning following concerns for the welfare of a woman who was in the car park.
"A number of officers attended, including trained negotiators and the woman is now receiving appropriate support."
