TAXI drivers in Stroud are concerned for their safety after two scaffolding poles were thrown from the top of Merrywalks car park on Saturday night.
A taxi that was driving along Rowcroft Retreat, past the car park, towards the taxi rank, got hit and its windscreen was damaged. Another car was hit too.
A police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to Merrywalks Shopping Centre in Stroud at 12.40am on Sunday (1 September) following reports of criminal damage.
"It is believed that scaffolding poles were thrown from the roof of the car park causing damage to two cars that were parked on Rowcroft Retreat.
"Enquiries are ongoing at this time."
One of the taxi drivers has suggested that Stroud could have taxi monitors working on Saturday nights, to create a safer working environment.
