Green Community Travel, a service that provides travel assistance to people in South Gloucestershire, have revealed they believe a person that impersonated a staff member was not part of the organisation.

A person impersonated a member of staff and tried to gain access to a customer's home last week.

Green Community Travel said that they had conducted an investigation and that police were now investigating the incident.

They posted on their social media: "Following on from our incident that we reported last week we have referred the incident back to the police.

"We have investigated fully within GCT, we do think this was someone outside of the organisation as our staff and vols have strict rules to follow regarding data, going into people's homes etc.

"We have written to all residents of the street that this incident happened in. We think that this happened to just one of our passengers but if anyone has had a call like this report it to us straight away on 01454 228706. We would ask all our passengers to follow the Avon and Somerset Police advice for Doorstep Callers.

The group issued an appeal on Facebook last week saying: "We have just had a report from our passenger that they had a knock on their door from someone claiming to be from Green CT and conducting a passenger survey.

"This person has then asked to access our passengers house.

"Gct would NEVER do this, we are not allowed in your homes (unless w/ch assessment or emergency)

"We are taking this VERY seriously and will be discussing with the police. Our concern is our passengers so please never answer the door or let someone in unless you know who they are.

"Gct staff have hi vis jackets or their ID badges. If you are ever doubtful refuse entry and contact us.

"We would always prearrange w/ch assessments so you would know in advance which day we are visiting and also the time.

"Unfortunately not everyone in the world is trustworthy so please share this as much as possible. We are very concerned about this and as said previously will be dealing with this extremely seriously."
