Many people will recall a time when coffee was made from a bottle of ‘Camp coffee essence’.
The real stuff made from beans, could be sampled at the Castle Grill or the Wimpy Bar in Cirencester. The Copper kettle at the bottom of Castle Street mainly sold pots of tea, but the Mad Hatter a few yards up the street and opposite the Castle Grill sold a milky brew called ‘Cappuccino’.
Nowadays there a hundred variations of cappuccino to be had in Cirencester with coffee shop almost on every corner.
