A THORNBURY pub is set to launch a specially-brewed beer following a successful community hop growing campaign.

The Butcher’s Hook, on Thornbury High Street, will launch Bloomin' Thornbury on Wednesday.

A light, golden 4.0 per cent ale, the green-hop beer will be on sale at the pub with 30p from each pint going to Thornbury in Bloom.

Landlord Pete Tiley said: “We’re really excited to try the beer and are really grateful to everyone that took the time and effort to grow the hops and bring them in for the brew.

"It’s a lovely way to engage people with both the brewing process and gardening so it seems very appropriate that the beer should raise money for the Thornbury in Bloom team.

"The team work incredibly hard to make our town such an attractive place to live and visit.”

The Butcher’s Hook, which opened in August last year, was recently listed in the Good Beer Guide for the first time.
