A popular annual music festival raised over £4000 for charitable causes.

MarshFest started last year and takes place at Marshfield Cricket Club with money raised at the event going toward charities.

The event took place on September 7 with over 800 people flocking to the festival this year.

They were able to enjoy live music, entertainment and delicious refreshments in the sun. The fundraising total this year was over double that raised in 2018,

and means Marshfield Primary School and Marshfield Cricket Club will each receive £2,000.

Hundreds of festival goers enjoyed 10 live acts, including a memorable set from Noah and the Whale’s Matt Owens.

Joining Matt Owens on stage were The Clones, Richard Friend, Haney’s Big House, Antalya and Eden. New acts this year were Falling Fish, Temple Keys and Train to Skaville, plus Box’s Mid Wife Crisis who stepped in at the last minute as a replacement act and gave a rousing finale including three encores.

“To be able to give £2,000 to each of our good causes is a fantastic feeling,” said James Wood, one of MarshFest’s four organisers.

“Marshfield has given us its true support and people also came from far and wide to enjoy the festival, as the sun shone all afternoon.

"The fact it was such a massive success is testament to the hard work of the committee but also the volunteers and crew who gave their time on the day, not to mention local farmers who donated hay and straw, Powerline who gave all power for the festival, MJ Church who helped with waste and recycling and Bath Spa University students.

"We owe them all a big, big thank you as we really couldn’t have done it without them.”
