SNJ readers have praised the Great Western Air Ambulance after yesterday's incident at Wallbridge - with several highlighting the fact that it is a charity.

Emergency services dealt with a medical incident at Wallbridge around 2pm yesterday (Wednesday).

The air ambulance landed on the roundabout in front of the Ecotricity headquarters on Rowcroft with police blocking the road.

A police spokeswoman said: "Our officers assisted with road closures while the ambulance service dealt with a medical incident in the area."

This picture of the Great Western Air Ambulance (GWAAC) as it flew over Merrywalks car park was taken by photographer Tammy Lynn, who wanted to highlight the fact that the air ambulance is a charity and is funded by donations.

Posting on Facebook she said: "Just managed to catch Great Western Air Ambulance Charity leaving Stroud this afternoon.

"I really hope whomever they came out to help is OK.

"I am so amazed at the work they do and the lives they save every day.

"You know GWAAC is a charity organisation?

"These guys are my heroes."

The incident happened next to the Cotswold Canals Trust, who said: "We were blown away by the swift reponse and professionalism of all the amazing NHS staff both on site and at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

"We wish the person involved a swift and full recovery."

Meanwhile an SNJ reader posted on Facebook saying: "I saw the helicopter land and I was in awe of them. I’m so proud of our emergency services and hope that the person involved is okay."

Another posted: "What a fabulous charity Great Western Air Ambulance Charity are, we are so lucky to have them. Best wishes to whoever is involved."
