A GROUP of Stroud crafters knitted and purled in unison in a captivating Knitting Orchestra performance.
Led by artist Uta Baldauf, the ensemble presented their "conceptual love letter to knitting'' at Stroud Brewery, as part of the town's Wool and Water Festival.

There were also weaving workshops, a canal story walk, plus a festival concert which included the premiere of a specially composed cantata.
The cantata, Wool and Water, was written by husband and wife team, Hugh Barton and Val Kirby as a way of telling the story of the woollen industry and the canal in the Stroud Valleys through music.
The concert also included a mix of vocal and wind music from Renaissance to Rock, including Benjamin Britten’s extra-ordinary ‘Rejoice in the Lamb’.
Performers included the Cotswold Canal Singers, Gloucester-base Ensemble i.a.t.B and Stroud’s Mark Coldrick on percussion.
Knitting Orchestra conductor Uta Baldauf said: "The Knitting Orchestra wouldn’t have been possible without Katharina Child, who got us every gig, and the Atelier in Stroud, which hosted our rehearsal."
