REMNANTS of Hurricane Lorenzo is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to parts of Gloucestershire today and tomorrow.

The storm was the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the far east Atlantic but will have largely died down as it reaches the UK.

According to the Met Office, heavy rain from the ex-hurricane is expected to arrive in South West England on Thursday, which will reach its peak on Friday morning.

Much of the UK isn't expected to be affected by the storm, but yellow wind warnings have been issued for Northern Ireland and parts of South West England and South Wales.

Gale-force winds could also reach Northern Ireland this afternoon with gusts of up to 65mph potentially hitting coastal areas as well.

Rain is expected to arrive this evening and continue throughout the night and into Friday morning in Stroud, with light rain showers also expected over the weekend.
