Much loved family run appliance store LA Hurn is set to close after 50 years of being in business.

The Stonehouse store will be closing on November 30 after years of specialising in and stocking small and large domestic appliances.

The company were named Stonehouse business of the year in 2006.

Posting on the company's Facebook account, the store's owner, Steve, who was writing on behalf of himself and his wife, Helen, wrote: "It's with a heavy heart that today I have to announce that after 50 years, LA Hurn will close its doors for the last time on November 30 2019.

"L A Hurn has been part of my life from the age of 4 when my Mum and Dad first opened its doors on the Easter weekend of 1969.

"From that day to this, the support you have given us has always been loyal and in abundance and for that we are truly humbled and indebted.

"All that remains now is to say a massive thank you to each and everyone of you that has supported us over the last 50 years. Not just for your custom but for your kind words, recommendations and friendships, thank you."

Steve announced that he will be staying in the appliance business with his new venture, Steve Hurn Domestic Appliance Services.

The new business will provide repairs and servicing on domestic appliances, as well as PAT testing for smaller businesses and property rentals and freestanding installation for appliances.

"This new venture will go live in December and full details will be on my new website which is currently in development," Steve wrote.

"Although we will now be running stocks down, we will still be supplying the usual appliances at competitive prices with our free delivery and free installation service right up to closing day. Of course it goes without saying you are more than welcome to come in and see us for any advice or problems.

"Any developments or news will still be posted on this Facebook page which will remain live until my new Facebook page goes live in December."
