More than £17,000 has been raised for Tetbury Hospital through a charity walk.

On a very wet Sunday in September, a charity walk took place at Estcourt Park in Shipton Moyne, by kind permission of Juddmonte Farms.

Richard Turnor, Tetbury Hospital trustee, who organised the event said: “I watched the weather forecasts in the lead up to the walk with mounting alarm, but it takes more than a drop of rain to put off the stalwarts of Tetbury and its district, many of whom were rewarded with a ray of sunshine on the final straight.

"Huge thanks are due to Juddmonte Farms, and its team, who opened up the glorious park for us and marked the route so beautifully, to the gallant registrars, marshals, car parking attendant, driver, first aider and barbequers who gave up their Sunday for us, and without whose fortitude the event could not have taken place at all, and above all to the walkers themselves and their sponsors."

Not only did Juddmonte Farms allow the fundraiser to take place at the park, they also donated £10,000 to the hospital.

A spokesman for Tetbury Hospital added: "The Friends of Tetbury Hospital would like to thank Juddmonte Farms for their incredibly generous donation of £10,000 to our charity.

"This support, together with all donations and sponsorship money raised, has totalled £17,672.82 and kicked off our new fundraising challenge to develop services and facilities into the future for the local community."
